Graeme and I are very proud of what we have achieved. We have come through some terrible conditions and surprised ourselves at the level of cycling ability and fitness to get through the miles day after day. We are both amazed at what can be achieved when you put your mind to it. The human body is an amazing thing.
We are also both very proud and honoured to have had the support we have throughout the challenge. We have had amazing support from Ingenica Solutions who made the event possible, as well as a very generous donation and providing the sponsored team kit. Many many friends and colleagues have donated to the to us for the charity and as a result we have raised an impressive sum of over £7000. Cancer Research UK came to see us at the end of stage 4 at Edinburgh Castle. They were very supportive and encouraged by what we were doing and the amount we have raised.
I can’t say thank you enough for all the support and the donations we have had but the biggest thanks go to Ingenica Solutions for the support mentioned above, especially Nicola Hall who let this happen for me. Without this support the challenge was a non-starter for me.
We would also like to thank all the special people who have given up their time to come and join us for some of the stages. Having other people with us gave us a great boost and helped the miles fly by. Some generous people have even given up their spare rooms and given us a roof over our heads for the night and fed us great meals.
The support crew (Graeme’s Mum and Dad) also deserves a special mention. They have followed us on every stage keeping us safe, fed us, kept us warm and generally looked after us. They deserve a medal for putting up with our sombre and sometimes dark moods that they managed to turn around with their positivity on a regular basis.
Finally, I would like to thank my wife who was left at home with our demanding boys for 2 weeks whilst I was away with the rest of her family having one of the best experiences of my life.
