Taunton & Somerset NHS Foundation Trust to roll out trust-wide inventory management solution

Musgrove Park Hospital (part of Taunton and Somerset NHS Foundation Trust) has confirmed plans to roll out an inventory management system across the entire hospital to help improve productivity.

The roll out succeeds phase one of the Atticus™ implementation, an innovative inventory management solution by Ingenica Solutions to help improve its internal supply chain; with the system currently live in the hospital’s head and neck theatres.

The solution supports the hospital’s aim to cut costs and improve efficiency by providing better data and management information; it will also help Musgrove Park Hospital improve productivity and operational efficiencies, achieve cost savings, increase stock control and visibility, improve standardisation and rationalisation, and reduce wastage.

Atticus™ is the first GS1 certified inventory management solution in the healthcare market (GS1 is an organisation that develops and maintains standards for supply chains across multiple sectors), and therefore also helps the hospital meet and exceed new requirements from the Department of Health GS1 and eProcurement strategy.

Musgrove Park Hospital is also the first Ingenica Solutions customer to implement the Atticus Procedure Card functionality which allows a single scan to record all items used therefore saving clinical time whilst retaining flexibility at point of use.

The project supports future changes at the hospital, and positions it as one of the leading hospitals in effective supply chain management and procurement.
